The Lombardy region in Northern Italy is characterized by the large urban metropolitan center of Milan and a large set of peri-urban areas synthesizing a total set of over 1,500 municipalities. Lombardy has been one of the most severely affected regions during the COVID-19 pandemic, indicating the need for a better-defined policy design in terms of spatial mobility.
MOBI-TWIN will investigate how the large shock of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected spatial mobility patterns in Lombardy, and how the Twin Transition can act as a mitigation framework for possible future crises, making resilient different territories. Implemented policies and changing behavioral spatial mobility patterns triggered by external shocks will be placed at the core of this case study.
