On June 5–6, 2025, the MOBI-TWIN project consortium met in Mikkeli, Finland, for its Semester Meeting, marking a significant milestone as the project reached its 24-month point. Hosted by the University of Helsinki, the event brought together consortium partners, advisory board members, and local stakeholders and representatives to discuss progress and future directions.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks from the project coordinator, setting the stage for collaborative discussions on the impacts of the green and digital transitions—collectively known as the Twin Transition—on regional mobility and attractiveness.

A key highlight is the Stakeholder Engagement Seminar, which facilitated dialogue between project members and regional experts. Discussions focused on how digitalization and sustainability initiatives influence population movements and regional development.

  • Mikkeli development company – Developing Multilocal Living and Digital Nomadism – Project Manager, Tuula Pihkala
  • South Savo Regional Council – Regional Development Strategy and Challenges – Development Director, Merja Olenius
  • Ruralia Institute – Rural solutions for a sustainable future – Research Director, Torsti Hyyryläinen
