April 14–15, 2025 | Thessaloniki, Greece

The MOBI-TWIN project was featured at the 9th International Conference on Applied Theory, Macro and Empirical Finance (AMEF 2025), held on April 14th–15th, 2025, at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece. The conference gathered economists, researchers, and policy experts from across Europe to discuss transformative trends in economic theory and practice.

Thanasis Ziogas, representing the University of Groningen (a MOBI-TWIN partner), delivered a presentation on collaborative research developed with Anastasia Panori (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and Dimitris Ballas (University of Groningen). Their paper, titled:
“Subjective Well-Being and Left-Behind Places: The Moderating and Mediating Effect of Regional Digital Characteristics,”
leveraged survey data collected within the MOBI-TWIN project. The presentation examined how regional digital development influences well-being outcomes in territories facing economic decline or stagnation — a topic closely aligned with MOBI-TWIN’s mission to understand and address the uneven territorial impacts of the twin green and digital transitions.
Participation in AMEF 2025 boosted the project’s academic profile, while opening avenues for dialogue and collaboration with researchers working on related themes such as economic geography, digital divides, and territorial resilience.
As the MOBI-TWIN project continues to engage with regional stakeholders and research communities, we look forward to sharing more insights and outcomes throughout 2025.
